The following wedding planning tips have all appeared on the front page of my site at some time or other. After one or two emails from you, I decided to put them all in here as well, to make it easier for you to find them. So in no particular order here they are - Happy planning 1 - It's sometimes possible to get a discount if all of the men hire their suits from the same shop. 2 - Don't forget to tell the wedding car people the colour scheme for the day, so that they can coordinate the car ribbons & flowers 3 - Any car can suffer a puncture. Always check with the car firm what arrangements are in place if this should happen. 4 - Check whether your venue will provide a special knife for cutting the cake. 5 - If caterers provide dishes, silverware and glasses, try to see a sample. 6 - You might consider a form for your guests to fill out if they have special dietary needs, such as low fat, vegetarian, or diabetic. 7 - If your venue is preparing the reception food, ask if a sample tasting can be arranged. 8 - The number of ushers should be proportional to the number of guests. A good estimate is one usher for every forty guests. 9 - String quartets can give a peaceful background for your ceremony or reception. 10 - Hiring a magician for the reception is a great way to break the ice in an informal and entertaining way. 11 - A few months prior to your wedding day, evaluate several makeup consultants by taking advantage of their free makeover offers. 12 - Most hair salons offer a free consultation while offering advice on which hairstyle will work best with your face structure as well as your type of wedding dress. 13 - To make sure you look your very best throughout the day and well into the night, consider carrying a trial size bottle of hair spray. 14 - Consider having the same hair salon work on you as well as your entire bridal party. You may get a discount. 15 - If there is another wedding before or after yours, contact that bride and ask if they would like to share the costs on the church decorations e.g. flowers. 16 - Why not have some secret singing lessons and wow your friends at the reception. 17 - Take some dancing lessons so that you and your new bride can 'WOW' your guests with a sexy salsa or tango for your first dance. 18 - If there will be lots of youngsters, why not hire a juggler/balloon modeller to keep them entertained during the speeches. The adults may like to try it afterwards as well! 19 - Once you have settled on a wedding date and place, decide if you need the assistance of a wedding consultant. 20 - Wedding fayres are a wonderful place to gather ideas for your wedding themes. 21 - Print your guests' names on both sides of the table place card. That way, the guests across the table don't have to worry about forgetting a name. 22 - For the best man - put both of the rings into a small box. You then have a reassuring rattle. 23 - Talk with photographers to see what their package of services includes. 24 - Find your own wedding gown before shopping for your bridesmaids' or mothers' dresses. Then you can be sure that the colour schemes will be just perfect 25 - Ensure that your wedding shoes are comfortable. Wear them around the house for a few weeks beforehand, to make sure they don't rub on the day. 26 - Some vendors offer a discount for mid-week weddings. 27 - Try to avoid having your hen/stag party the night before the wedding! 28 - If the venue will allow it, take your own wine and pay a corkage. Then you can buy in bulk and save £££s. 29 - Make you're own invitations - one sided printed cards are very cheap to do and then you can dress them up for about quarter the price of bought ones. From Sarah H. 30 - Getting married 'out of season' in the autumn may not only reduce your venue costs but will also mean you can pick up bargain dresses, shoes and other pieces in the summer sales. From Sarah H. 31 - When wearing in your wedding shoes, put socks OVER them to stop them being scuffed before the big day. From Sarah H. 32 - Whilst you want to ensure your bridesmaids are comfortable and happy on the day, do make sure they are clear about the parameters for choosing outfits, accessories, hair styles etc and who's paying for what. If you don't confusion is guaranteed. From Sarah H. 33 - If you're looking for votive candle holders, disposable cameras and other small bits and pieces for the day don't forget e-bay. From Sarah H. 34 - Save £££s on dresses & suit hire and get married on a nudist beach! Sorry my tongue is firmly in my cheek. But if you want something funny or unusual then go for it, remember it's your day.
